The Chamber Cares About The Environment

Both chamber’s board member, and agricultural expert, attended the meeting. The attendants agree that old cars and public electricity generators cause excessive pollution of the air while house wastes damage the soil.

Chamber’s Educational Activities Continue.

Under the supervision of the chamber and sponsorship of Atlas Company, the fourth annual book exhibition was opened. Senior members of the chamber and highly ranked governmental officials attended the event, while over 200 publishing houses took part to exhibit millions of books. The exhibition continues for 10 days, and book marketing is expected to flourish in Slemani City.

The Chamber Hail Made In Bangladesh Festival

Responding to the invitation of the Bengali Ambassador, the president of the chamber formed a delegation including members of the chamber and a number of businessmen to participate in an international exhibition, held in the capital Dhaka. The purpose of this exhibition is to promote productions made in Bangladesh. This country is known for quality pharmaceuticals, exotic fruits and clothes. Eventually, several agreements were signed between Slemani businessmen and the producers.

Chamber’s Tribute

Sirwan Muhammad led top managing-staff delegation to visit The President Jalal Talabani Center in Sulemani City. The delegation was received by the director of the center Dr. Muhammad Sabir, who pointed to the importance of the establishment in keeping the archive of “Mam Jalal” in different fields; he also mentioned that there is a plan to set up an academic institute to study social and political ideology of the Ex-President. Mr. Sirwan, for his part explained the activities of his chamber and expressed his will to cooperate with the establishment.

Links Continue With Greece

Highly ranked delegations, that included leaders of municipality of Slemani city and chamber of commerce, had paid a visit to Greece. It’s quoted of Mr. Sirwan Muhammad saying that they were welcomed by highly ranked officials of several sectors. Cultural, commercial and educational matters where discussed. The host expressed content to find their city being a corridor to the Greek companies, to extend their activities into Kurdistan. Eventually there will be a memorandum of understanding between the chambers of Athens and Slemani.

An Iraqi trade delegation visit UK trade shows at the Olympia and Excel venues in London

An Iraqi trade delegation of 15 companies from the Chambers of Commerce of Halabja, Sulaimaniya, Erbil, Baghdad and Diwania and a company member of Babylon Businessmen Association visited the trade shows held on the 16th and 17th November at the Olympia and Excel venues in London. A fruitful engagement and networking was done by the Iraqi delegation with several strong exhibitors at the 3 trade shows that were held at the Excel venue. The “Going Global Expo” made the main impact on the delegates additional to the “Business Show” and “The Foreign Direct Investment Expo” where the latter offered a wide range of service for companies that may need to open operations/branch in the UK. After the shows ended, a meeting was held discussing the visit highlighting the positives and negatives of the exhibiting companies that they had met.

The Chamber Asks Fore Equality

In a meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Sirwan Muhammad forwarded the following requirements:

Selling US Dollars at the rate of ID 146,500 to Kurdish traders, as would be equal to the traders in the rest of Iraq.

Legalizing the commercial manifests given by Bashmakh border point to regain the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Iraq, keeping in mind that most of the goods imported by Kurdistani traders are sold in the center and south of Iraq.

Allowing the Kurdish businessmen to purchase the sum of $1000 at the official rate at the local airports,

Distributing more kerosene in Kurdistan, to face the extreme cold weather.
The Prime Minister, for his part, highly regarded these requirements and suggested to present all of them in writing.

The President of the Chamber accompanies the Iraqi Prime Minister's delegation

The President of the Sulaimani Chamber of Commerce and Industry accompanied a delegation led by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shaia Sudani to Germany. The Iraqi prime minister left Baghdad for Berlin at the official invitation of the German chancellor, accompanied by a high-level delegation of the Iraqi government.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Sudani told a news conference today that his visit to Germany is of economic importance and to benefit from the country’s technology. “One of the tasks will be to sign a memorandum with Germany to resolve the problems of the electricity sector in Iraq,” he said.

A Commercial Delegation from US Michigan State will visit Kurdistan Region

The president of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry received Dr Azeed Meeri, the project manager in the Cldean Diaspora Foundation in Michigan state. In a meeting, the sides discussed the commercial ties between Kurdistan Region and the United States.

The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, wished that the visiting delegation try to bring the US companies to Kurdistan Region to meet their counterparts here, and establish investments.

The guest said that during the next month a delegation from Michigan State will visit the Kurdistan Region, the president of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce will head the delegates which are composed of a number of the owners of business interests in that state. They will pay a visit to the Chamber and meet with the businessmen in the Region.
